Berne Convention

The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works

Guernsey is delighted to have received confirmation from the World Intellectual Property Organisation that the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works was extended to the Bailiwick of Guernsey on 21st November 2014.

The Convention offers signatory countries (currently 168) minimum standards of copyright protection. This includes literary, dramatic, musical artistic works, films, broadcasts and typographical arrangements.

This is excellent news for the Bailiwick as it ensures that any literary and artistic works that originate in the Island receive copyright protection in all of the member countries. It will enhance the Bailiwick's standing within the UK and in the international community relating to these intellectual property rights.
